Basa Amhar
Bahasa Amhar ialah basa nasional Ethiopia nang diucapkan ulih 21 juta urang nang mana 14 juta di antaranya ialah penutur asli. Ditulis menggunakan sistem tulisan nang disebut fidel atawa abugida, dibibit matan tulisan hagan manulisakan basa Ge’ez nang wayahini lenyap.

Latar balakang
babakAmharic sudah manjadi basa pangadilan, basa padagang, bapandir hari-hari wan gasan militer mulai matan abad ka-12. Basa ngini marupakan salah sabuting Basa rasmi di Ethiopia, lawan Basa Oromo, Basa Somali, Basa Afar, Basa Tigrinya wan Basa Inggeris sampai tahun 2020 Basa Amhar marupakan sabubuingannya basa rasmi nang ada di pamarintahan Ethiopia lain pada basa Inggeris.[3][4][5][6][7] Manurut sensus, basa Amhar di pakai 21,6 juta pamandir asli di Ethiopia[1] wan 4 juta pamandir basa kadua di Ethiopia.[2] Di tambah lagi, 3 juta imigran nang masuk ka Ethiopia mamakai basa ngini jua. Kabanyakan komunitas Yahudi Ethiopi di Ethiopia wan Israel bapandir basa Amhar.[8] Di Washington DC, Basa Amhar jadi salah sabuting matan 6 basa salain basa inggeris dalam Language Access Act tahun 2004, nang mambulihakan pamakaian basa amhar dalam pamarintahan wan pambalajaran.[9] Labih lanjut lagi, basa Amhar dianggap basa suci ulih Rastafari religion dan dipakai ulih kabanyakan pangikutnya di samunyaan dunia.
